AFC Kesgrave ‘B’ (3) 4 v Trimley ‘B’ (0) 3
The line up was Adam in goal, Euan and Ethan in defence, Tyler (Captain), James and Dontae in midfield and Harry upfront with Josh as substitute. As with the A team, the B team started well and dominated the game. AFC took the lead after James robbed his marker beat a defender and shot low past the Trimley keeper. The two wide players were combining well with Harry and Dontae was putting in some strong runs down the left wing. In central midfield, Tyler was working very hard and putting in some timely tackles on the Trimley central midfield. Euan and Ethan were strong in defence and Adam made a smart save from a close range shot as Trimley pushed for an equaliser. AFC extended their lead after James played a pass to Harry who nudged the ball past the Trimley keeper. AFC were in control and were reaping the rewards for their good football. Further opportunities were created with Harry and Dontae having shots saved and James hitting the post from a Harry corner. Dontae completed the scoring for the first half with a neat finish from inside the penalty area. Josh replaced Dontae as half time neared. Further opportunities were created with Harry, Dontae and Josh having shots and James hitting the post from a Harry corner. The half time score was 3-0 to AFC. The second half was a complete contrast to the first, and a combination of a brave Trimley fight back, over confidence from AFC and the strong wind, saw Trimley score three goals to equalise. The game was very evenly balanced, James was replaced by Dontae and Jack came onto replace the injured Ethan. Even so, AFC kept going and both Dontae and Harry were unlucky not to score when the score was 3-1 to AFC (and probably would have finished off a brave Trimley team). Harry was replaced by James, with Josh moving upfront. As the game entered the last couple of minutes, James picked up the ball on the right wing, beat a defender and crossed for Dontae to score the winner from close range. The last couple of minutes saw Jack, Tyler, Euan and Adam defending well to ensure that the boys held onto a well needed hard fought victory.
