Our last game of the season saw us make a trip up the A12 to Leiston to play Sizewell & Knodishall Youth ( SKY )
It would be interesting to see how we bounced back after the disappointment of missing out on promotion following the defeat at Sporting 87.
Top scorers Tyreke and MItchell were left on the bench for the 1st half and we lined up with an experimental 3-4-3 formation against the Divisions basement team.
We pretty much dominated from start to finish, but lacked a lot cohesion in our play during the 1st half. Josh opened the scoring after 11mins with a good turn and shot, and then Alex headed the 2nd on 18mins. A few chances went begging before the best move of the half dowm the left ended with Nick rounding the keeper to leave the score at 3-0 at halftime.
The 2nd half we played much better with the ball played more to feet and we started to use the width to better effect, which in turn created more space down the middle, and the goals started to arrive from all areas of the pitch. Four goals in quick succession by Nick (38mins) Sam H ( 40min) Mitchell (42min) and then Nick completing his hat-trick on 45 mins took the score to 7-0 and then kindly offered to go in goal and allow Dan a cameo 15mins on pitch, in which time he produced possibly the best pass of the game, won 3 headers and then had 2 shots on target!!! Not bad for a goalie!!!
The scoring continued four quick goals with Donyae(57mins) Mitchell(58mins) Alex(60mins) and Tyreke(61mins) to make it 11-0 and then Mitchell completed yet another hat-trick in the last minute to complete our biggest win of the season at 12-0 .
Big thanks to David for refereeing the game, even though I think he lost count of goals, but he did a great job, so thanks for stepping in at short notice.
So, we finish 3rd in the League and just miss out on promotion... the defeats early in the season against Hadleigh Brettsiders and Kesgrave Kestrels Town probably costing us, as we really should have won both of these games.
The closeness of the Division highlighted by the fact that had we beaten Champions Sporting 87 a couple of weeks ago, then we would be promoted and they would have finished 3rd!!!! nn pp
