U12 Match Report v East Bergholt - U12 Plate 06/03/10

I am still blooming cold as I write this. AFC took on East Bergholt for the second week running and it was freezing. The winners of this game would go through to the semi final of the plate.

AFC lined up with Toby in goal, Harry, Samuel, Sam A and Jack at the back, midfield was Nathaniel, Kyle, Tom and Jonathon with Jake up front with George who was replacing the injured Nick.

AFC knew they were in for a tough game after last week and so it was to be. A first half of AFC pressure saw East Bergholt defend in numbers and keep the AFC team at bay. Jake was looking busy up front and his partnership with George was working well.

The midfield was very congested and it was difficult for AFC to play their usual flowing football. The breakthrough came after 20 minutes from a long kick by Toby. Jake out paced the Bergholt defence to slide it home for his 24th goal of the season.

Brendan made changes at half time with George and Nathaniel being replaced by Matthew and Charlie. It appeared to be getting colder if anything.

AFC went two nil up when a Jonathon corner was back healed into the goal by an unlucky Bergholt player. Although I am pretty sure Harry got the last touch.

George came back on for Tom and AFC were in total control. Sam G replaced Toby and made a good save fairly quickly. Kyle was playing up front and his quick feet were causing problems. The supporters were impressed with his heading ability and one header nearly cost his dad £10.

Kyle finished off the scoring to make it three with a nice finish. Dom came on for Samuel and ended the game strongly.

A comfortable win today and a semi final against Felixstowe Hawks on the 27th march to look forward too. This should be a cracking game and a difficult match for both teams.

Well played today boys with good performances from Kyle, Nathaniel and Jake (nothing to do with his Dad sponsoring me, he did have a good game) and a nice clean sheet. Capel next week and a chance to regain top spot in the league.
